Africa Plantation Capital Sponsors International Bamboo Day in Uganda, Showcasing Commitment to Bamboo Industry and Sustainable Innovation

Kampala, Uganda – September 25, 2018 – Africa Plantation Capital (APC) proudly sponsored the International Bamboo Day celebrations in Uganda, demonstrating its strong commitment to the bamboo industry and its potential for sustainable economic development. The event, which attracted a range of stakeholders, enthusiasts, and environmental advocates, featured a notable bamboo cycling tour—an impressive display of innovative use for bamboo in eco-friendly transportation.

APC’S Acting Managing Director mr Kelvin Kaloki Sila  addressed the media, including Uganda’s New Vision, expressing the company’s dedication to supporting the growth of the bamboo industry in Africa. “Bamboo has immense potential in Uganda and across Africa as a renewable resource,” said the APC Managing Director. “We are committed to working with local communities to unlock this potential, from bamboo farming to production of various products, such as bamboo bikes, under our brand BooRider.”

The BooRider brand represents APC’s innovative approach to sustainable product development, focusing on small-scale production of custom bamboo bicycles. The bikes are not only eco-friendly but also uniquely crafted to meet both the local and international market demands. By supporting the bamboo bike industry, APC is promoting sustainability while creating opportunities for artisans and local communities.

The highlight of the International Bamboo Day event was the bamboo tour ride, which saw cyclists completing an exciting ride on bamboo bicycles through scenic routes in Uganda. This bamboo cycling event, fully sponsored by APC, showcased the durability and versatility of bamboo as a material, drawing attention to the environmental benefits of using bamboo in the transportation industry.

Africa Plantation Capital’s sponsorship of International Bamboo Day in Uganda is part of its broader efforts to promote sustainable agriculture, innovative production methods, and eco-friendly alternatives in the region. By supporting events like the bamboo tour ride and promoting bamboo-related innovations such as BooRider bicycles, APC continues to lead the way in sustainable plantation management and product development.

As the bamboo industry grows, APC envisions more partnerships and opportunities for local communities to benefit from this renewable resource. The company’s involvement in such initiatives reflects its mission to contribute to climate-resilient and environmentally conscious economic development in Africa.
