Kelvin Kaloki wishes you a happy World Bamboo Day 2023

On September 18, Africa Plantation Capital (APC) proudly joins the global community in celebrating World Bamboo Day, a special occasion dedicated to recognizing the immense value and versatility of bamboo. Established through the efforts of the World Bamboo Organization (WBO), this day highlights bamboo’s role as a sustainable resource and its potential to address environmental and socio-economic challenges.

World Bamboo Day was officially inaugurated during the 8th World Bamboo Congress in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2009. This pivotal event brought together bamboo enthusiasts, experts, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world. It was at this Congress that the idea of creating a dedicated day to honor bamboo was proposed, with September 18 chosen to coincide with the birthday of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The esteemed bamboo researcher, Nobel Laureate, and former President of India was a passionate advocate for bamboo’s potential to combat poverty and environmental degradation.

Since its inception, World Bamboo Day has received widespread recognition and support from bamboo organizations, environmental groups, governments, and enthusiasts globally. The day celebrates bamboo’s diverse applications—from construction and crafts to its role in innovative, eco-friendly solutions.

Africa Plantation Capital is delighted to celebrate World Bamboo Day and renew its commitment to sustainable bamboo plantations. APC’s dedication to bamboo cultivation is part of a broader mission to promote environmental conservation and sustainable development. By advancing bamboo farming and production, APC contributes to both ecological balance and economic opportunities for local communities.

Bamboo is a remarkable resource with the potential to drive significant positive change. Our ongoing projects and future endeavors reflect our commitment to harnessing its benefits for both people and the planet.

As the world observes World Bamboo Day, Africa Plantation Capital reaffirms its pledge to support and expand bamboo initiatives, embracing the material’s full potential for creating a more sustainable and equitable future.
