2015 DECEMBER ROBIN JEWER CHIEF AGRONOMIST OF APC GROUP VISITS KENYA

Robin Jewer, Chief Agronomist of APC Group, Visits Kenya to Assess Bamboo Plantation Opportunities

In December 2015, Robin Jewer, the Chief Agronomist of APC Group, made a strategic visit to Kenya to explore potential land acquisitions for bamboo plantations for the new member of the group Africa PLantation Club. His primary focus was on assessing the suitability of various sites for large-scale bamboo farming, which aligns with the company’s sustainability and green energy initiatives.

During his visit, Robin Jewer spent considerable time in Kilifi together with mr Kelvin kaloki , Director of the local company , where he monitored ongoing agricultural activities. His evaluation aimed to ensure that the region’s soil composition, climate, and water resources were ideal for the successful cultivation of bamboo. The coastal region of Kilifi has shown promise for bamboo farming due to its favorable environmental conditions, which could position Kenya as a future leader in sustainable bamboo production.

APC Group’s interest in expanding bamboo plantations is part of a broader commitment to supporting eco-friendly industries, with bamboo being a versatile crop used for a range of products including construction materials, paper, and biofuel. Robin’s inspection of potential land purchases in Kenya signals APC’s ambition to harness the environmental and economic benefits of bamboo, contributing to both local economies and global environmental goals.
